DESCRIPTION: \nThe City of Mebane\, along with our community partners\, are proud to present the Juneteenth Freedom Day Community Celebration. \nThis celebration will take place on Saturday\, June 14\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mebane Community Park. \nThe celebration will feature a wide variety of vendors\, including (coming soon) \n \nWe will also have various entertainment and speakers present throughout the event! \nBackyard games will be available on-site to enjoy\, including: \n\n\n 	\n\n 	Bottle Bash\, Connect Four\, Corn Hole\, Four-Person Volleyball\, Giant Jenga\, Kan Jam\, Ladder Golf\, Spike Ball\, etc.\n\n\n\n \nIn honor of the Juneteenth federal holiday\, the City of Mebane and our community will celebrate African American culture and history. \n \n\n \nJuneteenth is the oldest known commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  General Gordon Granger announced that all enslaved people in Texas were free by order of the President of the United States on June 19\, 1865.  The announcement came two-and-a-half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which had become official January 1\, 1863.

With expertise in Tribute Concerts and years of experience performing at various events\, including corporate gatherings and wedding receptions\, SouLe & the SuperBand knows how to please even the most exacting client. Their musical library includes Soul\, R&B\, Blues\, and Jazz - from the masters to originals. \n \nMebane's Musical Chairs is a FREE summer concert series in Downtown Mebane that runs from May to August on the third Friday of the month. This event is in partnership with the Mebane Business Association.
