Downtown Mebane is home to some of our city's best shops and restaurants. It is a staple attraction for tourists, rich in diverse businesses. Located just a short walk away from City Hall sits Filament Coffee + Tea. This quaint establishment opened in 2015 and is situated in the middle of downtown, boasting a booming business. Whether it is coffee, tea, lemonade, or pastries you seek, they have a wide selection of seasonal drinks, herbal teas, and lattes.
Filament has a diverse menu with various house-made syrups and four milk alternatives: soy, almond, coconut, and oat. Aside from the coffee aspect, Filament features exquisite décor and interior design while employing a friendly work staff. Vastly different from other coffee establishments, Filament carries over 30 different artist creations like handmade candles, coasters, glasses, mugs, honey, earrings, books, hats, and more! If you are looking for a thoughtful gift or a quiet place to work, study, or chat amongst peers, I highly suggest you check out Filament.
While I could always go for a coffee, I found myself in the mood for something colder and more fulfilling. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Filament also sells smoothies on their menu. In the time I have been living and exploring around Mebane, I have noticed that the city desperately lacks smoothie establishments.
With over five different variations of smoothies to choose from, they each offer different ingredients and fruit that taste just as delicious as they look. In their selection, you will find ingredients such as chocolate, peanut butter, strawberries, bananas, mangos, and more. The staff is extremely accommodating and willing to add different ingredients if you so wish. Even though the summer months are ending, I am sure most would agree that the objective is to lose weight rather than gain, and smoothies are a great meal replacement to aid with this goal. Lightweight but refreshing, their smoothies helped boost my energy and tide me over until dinner. Loaded with nutritional value and an assortment of various vitamins, Filament Coffee + Tea is my recommendation for those experiencing a smoothie craving! Not only will you be supporting a local business, but your taste buds will be jumping for joy.
